Don’t you just love LA Ink? The tattoos, cool girls and awesome designs . . . what more could you want?
Let’s dive in to Episode 12: Kat Minus Sixx
Kat Von D, the star of the show and the owner of the famous High Voltage tattoo shop, rents the art gallery next door so she can exhibit her work. She’s told that if she doesn’t get an art show together within 2 weeks, she’ll actually start losing money on the space.
Corey Miller, who left Kat’s High Voltage shop and now works at American Electric, her biggest tattoo shop rival, decides to attend a local weekend tattoo convention. He tries talking Amy and Ruthless into joining him. Amy and Ruthless in turn ask Craig Jackman, the owner of American Electric, if they can attend but he’s not having it. Amy later asks Ruthless if she’ll cover her appointments so sh can attend the convention; Ruthless is absolutely shocked (and a bit angry) that Amy has the nerve to ask this of her. Not surprisingly, her answer is “NO”.
So, Miss Ruthless decides to cancel her appointments so she can attend the convention. When she arrives at the show she’s told by Corey that they don’t need any help working their booth. Umm, it looks like Ruthless went to all that trouble canceling her appointments for nothing.
Meanwhile, Kat is NOT happy that her brother Michael and his friend Rooftop decided to tear down one of the walls in her new art gallery during the day. Although the wall is supposed to come down, they’re bright idea of knocking it down with sledgehammers creates lots of debris and causes the adjoining High Voltage shop to shake. She’s already stressed because her boyfriend Nikki Sixx asked her to tour with him and it looks like if she doesn’t agree, their relationship will probably end. So it’s understandable when she sees Rooftop skateboarding in her new art gallery and accuses he and Michael of not taking her seriously.
Back at the tattoo convention . . . .
Ruthless looks up and lo and behold, her boss Craig is at the tattoo convention! Busted! Craig accuses her of ditching her work in order to attend the event. He is NOT amused.
People Getting Tattoos This Episode
(didn’t get her name): got two tattoos on her right arm of her kids. But here’s the twist: she got the little boy drawn as Frankenstein and the girl drawn as Wednesday from The Addams Family!
Danielle: she got a tattoo of The Jabberwocky (from Alice In Wonderland) on her ankle/foot area. Meaning: she got the tattoo as a reminder to keep battling her anorexia and bulimia condition. I just love it when people get tattoos that are inspiring or that symbolize a journey, event or condition that they were able to overcome.
Travis: he got a design of a skeleton gripping a rose tattoo.
Diane Fernandez: she got a really cool tattoo of a Latino pin-up girl on her left shoulder. Amy did that design and, although she admitted that she doesn’t have much experience doing color portraits, she did a fantastic job.
Brent: he got large floral tattoos on each elbow. They looked really kick butt and totally awesome.
I can’t wait for the next episode of LA Ink (titled “Kat in Wonderland”) when we get to see her open her new art gallery. Also, there’s more in store for bad girls Amy and Ruthless.
