This kid that goes by the handle EmCee got this awesome looking foot tattoo that you really have to see to believe. That is it, to the left of this post and I tried to capture it as big as I could because this is a really amazing piece of art.

If you have ever had a tattoo on any part of you that is bony, you know that it is much more painful than a place like a bicep or leg. That is because the nerves on any part of the body where the bone is near the skin have to be up near the top of the skin so you really feel them there. There are plenty of parts of the body that qualify for this, but the hand and foot, along with the elbow and ankle are up on the top of that list. Well, the foot has to be just about the most painful place to get a tattoo, and this guy had the whole top of his foot done, and in great detail.

That is why I am not only awarding it the most gory tattoo award (though there have been some close seconds I have posted here) but it is also one of the best tattoos I have seen in a long while. It is truly a work of art. Now, the guy says it didn’t hurt as much as her thought it would, but who am I to say? I would have thought that a tattoo on this particular part of the body would hurt more than usual, but then I don’t have one there.

So I gotta ask – who out there has a tattoo on their foot? If you did, can you share? And did it hurt?

For those who are not in the loop, what we have here is a comic book tattoo of The Thing (aka Ben Grimm), the big orange guy that is one of the Fantastic Four. If you know the story, you know that gamma rays turned Air Force fighter pilot Ben into what is lovingly referred to in the comics as “a pile of orange rocks”, or The Thing. In this tattoo we get to see the transformation frozen in time on this guys body, forever. Now, it just so happens that in the comic book The Fantastic Four live and work (if you can call it that) in New York City.

What is very cool is that according to this website, the dude that had this very cool tattoo done actually lives in New York. Could it be his name is Ben Grimm as well? Well, they didn’t tell us that in the article, just that the tattoo artist who did this great work of art is Jason Pederson, and you can check out the website for his studio in New York here.

If you are into movie monsters and such, you will be pleased to note that this tattoo won the Stan Winston School of Character Arts “Best Monster/Creature” Tattoo Contest on the school’s Facebook page. Since Stan Winston is kinda the “king” of movie monster art, that is no small bit of recognition. Congrats to Jason for the well deserved award.

In the meantime – here are a few other cool comic book tattoos that I cruised around and found for all you lovers of cool tattoo designs and all things geek. I just am not afraid to, in the immortal words of David Crosby, “let me geek flag fly” in front of all my fellow tat lovers!

But the tattoos that pretty much floored me the other day were ones I saw in a fashion blog I was checking out for a client. It seems that a couple of gals decided it would be fun to create some temporary tattoos that you can sport on your boobs. On your ta-tas. I don’t know- what do you call them? Whatever you call them, I am not so sure that I would want even a set of temporary tattoos on them.

All I know is I tend to avoid t-shirts that have slogans placed strategically across “the chest” so why on earth would anyone want to put a couple of slogans on the skin? But it has gotten some good press across the web, well heck here I am writing about it! Christmas holiday tattoos
Personally I would have to really like the holiday to have something that iconic on my body, but there are some folks who really go big time for Christmas and so for them it probably makes sense to have a tattoo about Christmas. So just for fun I decided to check it out and see what I could find in case some of you are thinking of something like this to super-celebrate the Christmas Holiday Season. What I found was that most of them are from one of several animated Christmas shows. So I guess for most of us Christmas is all about watching TV after all:

Spiritual Angel Wings

Many people who have angel wings do them because they feel they are spiritual, that they say having angel wings tattoo designs on their backs makes them feel a kinship with angels. Despite this, it is interesting to note that when angels are described in the bible, they do not mention wings. This was an element that was added by painters when depicting them in early religious art. Still, the concept of angels with wings remains a spiritual image with deep meaning for many.
