Tattoos on Capital Hill

This week it seems like everyone is talking about an article that showed up on Roll Call, the official rag for what is going on in Congress. So what exactly is the story that has everyone talking? Well, all the chatter is about congressional reporter John Stanton, who did a piece this week on just exactly who has tattoos under those crisp clean shirts and ties.
As the man himself says: What do Jesse Jackson Jr., soccer legend David Beckham and conservative godfather Barry Goldwater have in common? All these men have, on more than one occasion, subjected themselves to the exquisite pain of an artist putting ink to skin.
That is quite a visual picture, but you won’t see it here. It seems that even though plenty of congressional members were willing to tell Stanton that they did indeed have tattoos, that don’t mean they were willing to be photographed with them. The folks back home may not be too happy about that one.
I knew that Jesse Jackson Jr. has several tattoos, he has never been shy about it. In fact, that is him in the picture above this post. Of course, Beckham has so many now I can’t distinguish one from the other in a photo op. The one I was surprised to hear about was Goldwater, although the explanation that he had a Native American tribal tattoo done on his hand sorta makes sense.
It turns out that Stanton may know a thing or two about body art since he has a few tattoos of his own. He is not your typical reporter and it seems that had worked as a bouncer at some of the local clubs in DC before the gig with Roll Call. But the article did very little to name names outside of a few that sounded like they were not too happy to be “outed” so to speak.

Tom Cruise Shows Off His Celebrity Tattoos for W

When I first saw this pic of Tom Cruise taking off his shirt for the cover of W magazine, I thought “who is this guy?” because he really doesn’t look like the “boy next door” guy I recall seeing on the screen. But then again, he is showing off his celebrity tattoos, and some sexy looking “guy-liner” because he is promoting a new movie he is in, Rock of Ages”. He will be playing a heavy-metal type rock god and it looks like he is practicing heavy for the role!
You know, the British newspaper The Mirror did point out something I must have missed. I know that celebrity tattoos are often outrageous but is that gun not pointing towards his, well, private parts, as they say? Well, I am sure since he is posing in character that he had that one painted on since I think the Church of Scientology kinda frowns on this sort of thing.
Word is out that he is spending some serious time getting his vocal chords up to the job, so it will be interesting to see just how good he is when the film is out. But in the meantime, he gets to show off his tats which are an interesting view for those of us here at tattoo-central. Of course, being celebrity tattoos, anything can be added in by computer these days, including both the tats and the six-pack he is showing off. You never can tell with these movie-types.
But heck – not bad for a boy who loves to jump on the couch and believes in aliens!
Celebrity Tattoos: Emma Watson Gets Tough!

I know that it may be true that if you played the kind of role Emma Watson did in Harry Potter you want to find a role that proves you are all grown up and Not That Kid. Sure, I get it. But this new role, complete with celebrity tattoos, is really something of a surprise.
There are some pics making the rounds right now of her sporting her some pretty ugly pink sweats and some Oh My Gosh tattoos. Well, she tweeted the shots and they are from her latest role, that of Nicki in The Bling Ring. For those who have the memory, this film is about that group of kids that got caught last year making the rounds of celebrity homes. They were into crashing and grabbing some bling to support their need for fun and fancy cool stuff. I remember it vaguely as something that made me think, “well that is gonna end up a movie for sure” and I wish I weren’t always right about some stuff.
As Emma says in her tweet, “Nicki likes Lip Gloss, Purses, Yoga, Pole Dancing, Uggs, Louboutins, Juice Cleanses, iced coffee and Tattoos.” Well, just the thought of our sweet little Hermione doing a pole dance with tattoos glowing is enough to make me check it out! And in the meantime, I made sure to point out the tats on the girl (the blue arrows are mine, they were not on the pic she tweeted).
I have my doubts the tattoos are real, since she has them for the show. But they could be. Is this the secret life of Emma Watson we never knew? Pole dances and secret tattoos?
Coolest Celebrity Tattoos!
Posted by: | CommentsOkay- usually I try to keep the number of celebrity tattoos to a minimum on this site because to be truthful it is almost impossible to keep up with the number of new celebrity tattoos you see on the web on an almost daily basis.
But- I saw this celebrity tattoo type pic of soccer-star Beckham and had to share it-

New Celebrity Tattoos: Zayn Malik

Although it feels like every time I turn around there is a new celebrity tattoo, I must admit this one is kinda cute, and in its own way very sweet. For those who don’t follow the Boy Band scene, Zaynis is the really cute one in the British/Irish band One Direction and tends to be pretty proud of his Muslim roots. He has a tattoo in Arabic of his grandfather’s name and just recently got a new one on his shoulder bone (ouch! That must have hurt!), that is also in Arabic. It says “be true to who you are” and he says it is there to ground him as the band’s popularity continues to soar.
Well, I don’t know about you, but I happen to think this is a very sweet way for a guy who is dealing with sudden fame to keep his two feet on the ground. Ever since One Direction hit it big after finishing third on The X Factor and then were signed to Simon Cowell’s label, the band has been seen everywhere on the web. And for many, getting new celebrity tattoos is part of the process. For now, this young hottie is at four tattoos, but really who is counting?
Lana Del Rey Cover Art Tattoo

As if this gal doesn’t have enough problems after her not so stellar performance on Saturday Night Live, it seems that the cover to her latest album is causing plenty of folks to get all stirred up. It seems that the picture on the cover art can be interpreted several ways, and some of them are not pretty.
The tattooed hand is what is causing all the controversy. It is obviously not her hand, and it appears to be a man’s hand. The tattoos are pretty awesome in and of themselves, although the one that is causing so much grief are the letters tattooed across his fingers. It seems to me that this gang tattoo style has become all the rage lately – with words of violence written across the knuckles or fingers of a hand. This particular tattooed word is only violent if you think the hand is threatening her. She says it is “feeling her pulse” but most folks think it could be putting a choke hold on her.
It can be hard to tell and she isn’t exactly someone who inspires confidence in her ability to choose a symbol that is at all promoting women, but I think some people are jumping to conclusions on this particular tattoo.
