Autoclave: a pressurized device used to heat sterilizing solutions above the boiling point. It's important to confirm that the ink shop you use has an autoclave for sterilizing their instruments.

Flash sheets: tattoo designs that are "ready-made", mass-produced, and sold to tattoo artists on sheets. Many tattoo shops have flash sheets displayed on the wall to provide customers with design ideas.

Laser Tattoo Removals: a safe and effective method for permanently removing unwanted tattoos.

Ink shops: slang term used to describe a tattoo shop.

Moko: permanent face markings once used by Maori, an indigenous tribe from New Zealand. Although the designs were traditionally carved modern Moko is applied with regular tattoo needles.

Permanent makeup: tattoos that are applied to the body (specifically the face) to resemble makeup, e.g., lipstick, eyeliner, eyebrow liner.

Sleeve tattoo: a large tattoo or group of smaller tattoos that cover most of the arm, from the top of the shoulder to the wrist.

"Stick and Poke": a technique used for making "homemade" tattoos in which a sewing hread is dipped in permanent ink and wrapped around a sewing needle, close to the point. The needle is then repeatedly "poked" into the skin.
